Standard Operating Procedures for The Realm Online Division (guild rules)

Standard Operating Procedures for the empire:
General Protocols
1. No hacking.
2. No scamming.
3. No trash talking. We are above  mouthing off to the flesh. If you have to deal with them, do so in a calm and intelligent manner. Units shall not at any time mouth off to any fellow Unit, especially a Superior Officer.
4. Acting out sexual fantasies and PDAs (public displays of affection) are prohibited in public, on Compound, and in private under all circumstances. We are machines and are above any and all behavior of the flesh.
5. No bashing or ignoring of other Units. We are all mature enough to handle things in a professional manner.
6. All officers are to be addressed by their rank and call sign. We are a family, please treat each other as such and support your brothers and sisters.
7. All orders from a higher ranking officer are to be followed. If you have a problem with it afterwards, take it up the chain of command.
8. Disrespect for any Unit is uncalled for and will result in immediate disciplinary action.
9. Saluting of the highest ranking officer present shall be accomplished both in local chat when an officer is present at a location and in the compound.  If two equal officers are present, the one arriving first shall be considered the ranking officer.  The officer in command shall be the ranking officer in a group situation (Example: The AoT and AoP are both present for a pvp group, the AoT is the officer in command, thus shall be saluted as the ranking officer).
10. Kneeling to Elders of Legend is customary only if the Elder is as retired member of the empire and is not holding a current rank or status in the empire.  This is customary to retired units "visiting" a game.  If they are declared to be an active player, kneeling will not be required.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

-=Channel/ Room protocols=-

For the sake of the SOP and Charter, the "Compound” refers to "Gossip" on channel 72 in The Realm Online (TRO).

The Linkshell MECH Compound in Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) shall be used for RP. Free Company channel is for OOC chatter. CWLS will be a mixture for communication and play.

When entering the Compound or a public area with officers of higher rank present, you are to salute them before any other action is taken. If Elders of Legend are present, you are to kneel to them as soon as you have been re saluted.

When someone of a higher rank than you enters Compound, or the room you are presently in, salute them appropriately. If an officer of higher rank than the current highest officer enters Compound, salute them as well.

While the Compound is a place to relax among friends, it is still important to maintain a professional play atmosphere there. As such, use of real life names is strictly prohibited.

While on Compound you are allowed to speak OOC, using the OOC> tag at the beginning of each OOC statement. Excessive OOC is not acceptable. The Compound is the only place where OOC statements are allowed, because in public you represent MECH and should role play as such.

Vulgar language is allowed, but racial slurs and sexist remarks are not. Anything extreme or excessive is not allowed under any circumstances.

-=Public Channels=-

Public channels are defined as any channel that the flesh have access to. These rules apply to all of those channels. While we are above the flesh, often times there is equipment we need for upgrading and PvP and they will frequently have this equipment. Consider it poetic justice that we use the equipment we obtain from the flesh to purify them.

Example Channels:

  • Room tab

  • Group tab (unless full MECH group)

  • Gossip tab (Channels 0~4, Trading & Meeting Place included)

  • Events tab (when active)

  • Party

  • (RP) Linkshell (MECH Compound)

  • Free Company (OOC)

  • CWLS (mixed RP/OOC)

  • Alliance

  • Shouts / Yells / Say

MECHs generally do not offer advice on public channels, answer general questions, or assist with quests of that of flesh (One's own group is the exception.) You are still required to salute higher ranking officers when on public channels.

Role-play is especially important in public (applies to wearing RP tag in FFXIV). While you may still have flesh friends, they are only friends OOC and you should not be found fraternizing with them on your MECH Unit at all (in public), they are still our enemies.

-=Player vs. Player Combat (PvP)=-

No Plugging (Forced exit of the game client). Under normal circumstances, there is NO reason for plugging. We are MECH, we fear nothing. The only acceptable circumstance for "plugging”  is if the game somehow freezes.

If you were in a PvP battle and freeze, it is strongly suggested that you contact that person/party and restart the match.

Cadets and uncleared members of the Empire may engage in Training Ground combat for their training purposes.

Open world PvP is prohibited until you are cleared for PvP by the AoT.

No PvPing on the side of flesh willingly (with the exception of the Duty Finder in FFXIV in the Feast. PvP Teams will consist of fellow MECHs.). If you are jumped with flesh, fight and kill the enemy.

No open world groups with flesh or uncleared MECH.

As soon as you reach level 1000 (or 30+ for FFXIV) see the Admiral of Training to begin PvP lessons.

If you are in the open world upgrading, make sure you are ready for combat at any time.

-=Chain of Command=-

  • Cadets report to their Drill Sergeant (or Recruit Division Commander).

  • Drill Sergeants report to the Admiral of Training.

  • Soldiers report to their Flight CO.

  • Commanders report to their respective Wing Captains. In the absence of a Wing Captain, they report to the Admiral of Training.

  • Vice Admirals report to their Admiral.

  • Admirals report to the Grand Admiral.

  • Grand Admiral reports to the Emperor.

  • High Lord reports to the Emperor.

  • Judge (when activated) reports to the Emperor.

-=Deactivation=-

Failure to abide by the protocols listed in the Charter and SOP will result in deactivation.

-=Prototypes=-

Prototype Units are to be approved by the Admiral of Purification and should not be created until approval is given. Before even requesting a prototype, certain criteria must be met. This varies from division to division. (This applies to TRO.)

In FFXIV your main job is considered to be your main unit. Once you obtain the rank of Soldier and are level 50 in your main job, other jobs will be available for you to learn as a prototype. *Should you wish to change your main job, you will be asked to express your reasoning and consider how the change effects your PvP Team or Raid Team. *(This only applies to your PvP or Raid Teams.)

-=Cadets=-

All Cadets in the empire will be subject to a probation period. During this time, cadets will focus on gaining the required upgrades and studying to pass their scan. Specific information about cadet training should defer to AoT.

Note: All past units returning to the Empire will also be subject to the above rule and WILL be placed in the cadet pool for the required time period. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.

-=Complaints=-

  1. Do not discuss them on Compound. Take all issues with other Units and/or officers to their Commanding Officer immediately. They will handle the issue.

  2. If you have a problem with someone directly under you, reprimand them yourself.

  3. If you have a problem with someone indirectly under you, you may reprimand them yourself, or bring the problem to the attention of their commanding officer.

  4. If you’re a CO and have a problem with a soldier that is not in your flight, bring it to the attention of their CO.

  5. If you have a problem with a Cadet, take it to their Drill Sergeant.

  6. If you have a problem with a Vice Admiral, take it to their respective Admiral.

  7. If you have a problem with an Admiral, take it to the Grand Admiral.

  8. If you have a problem with the Grand Admiral, take it to the Emperor.

  9. If you have a problem with a flesh, kill them. If you can’t kill them yet, wait until you can.

  10. Unless it directly involves them or is extremely important, the High Council should not have to deal with your problems. Blatant insubordination is grounds for punishment. No matter what an officer did to you, they still should be shown the respect of their station.

-=Accounts=-

Your Unit’s and accounts are your responsibilities. No one is allowed to be on your account other than an approved fellow MECH, and such cases require the Grand Admiral’s approval before they are allowed. If another MECH has access to your account, they are to always be /busy and not on any public channel.

In TRO, multiple accounts are allowed for you to box your own group. It is suggested but not required that you only allow people onto your account when you will be unable to upgrade, and that you change your password as soon as you return.

Note: Impersonation of another unit is grounds for disciplinary action, up to and including deactivation.

-=Uniform=-

In TRO, it is simple to create a very uniform squadron. Colors should be all black with your cowl representative of your flight. Matching baldric is recommended, however due to level restrictions, any baldric is acceptable. Robes and Skirts, Backpacks and Shields should also be black to complete your attire. Rings of Male/Female Power are acceptable. Weapons may be any color. Available black dyes include: Bleak Black, Shimmering Black, Timeless Umber, and basic Black.

In FFXIV, your main job uniform will eventually be a full set of Late Allagan PvP gear with your flight color and the other pieces dyed appropriately. Check with your Officers for specific flight dyes. As your prototype job, your gear will be snow white. Any armor type is acceptable in your prototype job. While off duty, the Late Allagan gear set is not required. (This applies to Soldiers and above.)
